I think I can count 31 galaxies in this new image of part of the Virgo Cluster. The picture is formed from three overlapping images which cover a field of approximately 2.5 degrees x 1.75 degrees. The three largest galaxies (bottom left and mid right of centre) are M87, M86 and M84. The string of galaxies spreading up to the left from M86 is known as Markarian's Chain. This picture covers a larger area and was given greater exposure (about 30 minutes) than the similar one taken 2 years ago. The images were made using the Starlight Xpress H16 CCD camera on the Skywatcher refractor mounted on the Meade 14" LX200R telescope. Guiding was by the M7C camera on the LX200.
